FAQ Carpet Cleaning

Ace Carpet Cleaning Boca Raton, Florida

F.A.Q.

WHY NOT STEAM CLEANING?
More and more carpet manufacturers are telling buyers NOT to have carpet steam cleaned on a regular basis. The sticky residues from shampoo never really dry. Instead, they cling to every carpet fiber, actually attracting more dust and soil. Steam cleaned carpets resoil very quickly. “Steam and water” extraction (steam cleaning) can cause carpets to rot or mildew because of excessive drying time. And the extreme flooding of carpets so common with these methods can utterly destroy the jute backing on fine carpet. Such flooding can also damage hardwood floors beneath the carpeting, making them warp.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY CARPET CLEANED?
There is no simple answer for this question. But on average, it is recommended that your carpets be cleaned a minimum of once per year. Some situation call for more frequent cleanings (kids, allergy, pets) – but this should be the minimum.

SHOULD I WAIT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE BEFORE CLEANING MY CARPET?
No. Dirt is an abrasive – like sandpaper. Every time you step on the carpet, you grind dirt into your fibers. This cuts your carpet causing it to wear out faster. A dirty carpet will not last nearly as long as a clean carpet. And while vacuuming helps — by itself, it’s simply not enough. Then, the longer you wait to have your carpet cleaned, the more damage you do to your carpet and the faster it wears out.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY UPHOLSTERY CLEANED?
According to American Furniture Manufacturers Association, you should not let your upholstery get soiled to the point of a noticeable or visible change in the color of the fabric. This means that most upholstery has to be cleaned as a regular maintenance practice once every 18 to 24 months or before soil builds up and stains the fabric.

CAN YOU GET OUT RED STAINS?
We have a special chemical designed especially for getting out RED STAINS! It produces a success rate of about 90%. There is a separate charge for this as it is an expensive process, and takes some time.

WHICH STAIN REMOVER IS THE BEST ONE?
We will tell you what works best when we visit and see your carpet. If you have used a grocery store products such as (…)© on a spot, if it did not remove the stain, it may have locked it in, permanently damaging your carpet. We suggest refraining from these products.

WHY SOME COMPANIES OFFER CARPET CLEANING AT $20.00 PER ROOM OR LESS?
You can pay less and get less. Some ads offering extremely low prices, free rooms cleaned, or other free services can lure consumers into situations that have special conditions, fewer services, or unmentioned add-on costs.
To perform a quality carpet cleaning (move furniture, thoroughly vacuum, pre-spot, clean corners and edges) takes about 30 min. per room.
Companies that charge $20.00 per room usually spend about 5 min. for each room – in such a short time it is impossible to clean well!
The other scam artists will tell you that you need a “deep cleaning” that sometimes cost 10 times more than advertised! There should be no differentiation between “normal cleaning” and “special cleaning.” Clean is clean. Every effort must be made to physically remove as much soil as possible from carpet during cleaning.

IS MOVING FURNITURE RECOMENDED?
Unless clearly specified otherwise, furniture moving to access and clean carpet underneath should be considered part of the normal cleaning job. Items such as fish tanks, heavy glass tables, waterbeds, loaded china cabinets, computers, or extremely delicate or fragile furnishings (pianos, antiques) are considered exceptions. If you want to move them anyway, we provide professional moving service from our friends at Boca Movers.
